When my blood sugar drops I have a really hard time controlling my eating.
For many living with diabetes this is common. Some of us, myself included, will also over eat to try to prevent low blood sugar later on.
I talk about how low blood sugar can trigger me to binge eat- even though I’m not actually hungry. It’s been helpful for me to understand that feeling low blood sugar is just as much of an emotional experience as it is physical. Low blood sugar can be scary but if we take half a second to slow down while we’re treating we can prevent over eating.
