Diagnosed at a very early age Julie has always known life with diabetes. As she got older she wanted to experience the world. She learned that traveling as a diabetic to other countries could be overwhelming but it didn’t have to be. From her experience traveling to over 28 countries, she created the Diabetic Travelers Network. She saw how many diabetics of all types were fearful to travel whether that’s getting through airport security or if you need an emergency refill, Julie has taken all the guesswork out of it. Today she shares her story and how anyone, even diabetics can travel the world.

A story of radical transformation

How to thrive as a diabetic when you can’t control your environment

I live with type 2 diabetes.

It’s not a walk in the park, but it doesn’t need to be your worst nightmare. Even though my condition has never allowed me to control my environment, that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to thrive in it – or what’s possible when we do just that.

It’s definitely not easy, but there are ways of making it easier on yourself without being too picky about what you eat or drink. Here are some tips and tricks that will help you live life like any other person who doesn’t have to deal with the challenges of diabetes every day.
